Military: Who does the research about those new jet engines that have air flow and no moving parts?
Who do I contact who knows about those engines? I have a question about air flow patterns of flocking birds that they might help me with. I need to see a model of the air turbulence created by flocking terns.
There are several govt agencies, but some things about engines that are still in the development stage are classified. There is NASA.org for one. There is the Jet Propulsion Lab in Albuquerque, but I don’t think they talk to the general public. I do know that the Discovery Channel had a show about problems with birds around airports. They also have a section devoted to military aircraft. The airflow of a Tern. They are good dive bombers. Good choice. I would start with nasa.org, but even though they have a wind tunnel I don’t think they did the airflow thing with a tern. I know they have been working with JPL on scram jet engines. That is not what you are asking about though. Besides, the working details of the scram jet for the military is still classified. By the way, the guy above me is wrong. There is an engine that doesn’t operate with a turbine type engine. It has been around for a long time and started with the ram jet engine that the Germans used in WW2. That was not a rocket. There is a big difference. Try nasa.org. I also have a couple other sites for the govt. that you might get some help from, but not much. As I said, a lot of stuff is classified. There is also a pulse engine that is similar to the scram jet, but JPL doesn’t talk about it.
