I have 2000 Chevy Monte Carlo LS. My brakes are squeaking so badly that i cringe when I brake….?
Its like someone scratching a chalk board with their finger nails. So I took it to the dealership and they had it allll day yeterday. I went to pick up my baby, And boom squekaing still!!! I talked to the guy today and he said the brake pads are good, the breaks are good, that its rusted (some metallic plate) which causes it to squeak. So theres nothing they can do about the squeaking….. Is this true? Is he pulling my leg cause im a chick? Like seriously I would hate to act a fool and trade my car because of some brakes that they cant fix.
Ignore whoever said to spray you brakes with wd40, they are insane. Yes the squealing will stop, but then you won’t. Not a very good trade off.
There is a anti squeal gel the goes on the back side of the brake pad but if it were me I would try the car wash thing first and make sure they are dry and that you are stopping properly before going back on the road. If that doesn’t work just have the pads changed. If they are rusting out already (even if not worn) you would be better off. Pads are pretty cheap and the headache isn’t worth it.
